So many Christmas tracks are stuck in the realms of the Northern Hemisphere - this was written for my daughter, Leni, and it’s a quirky little Australian story about kids growing up in Australian city apartments. It's hot outside, there's heaps of fun to be had, but how does Santa get the presents inside?

Christmas is a funny time oh would you believe
That Santa Claus is coming soon and I’ve got a key
You see we don’t have a fireplace our door are locked tight
But I’ve got a plan to get the key to Santa tonight because

Santa’s coming - I hope he got my letter the instructions are on the back
Santa’s coming- he’s gotta find the key to get to the tree

Apartments are so tricky when Santa comes you know because they don’t have any chimney (What’s he gonna do Dad?)
And all I wanna do is wait til Santa arrives
But Mum says he only comes if I close my eyes, and now
Santa’s coming…

It's hot this year at xmas, St Kilda's abuzz
With friends around to play all day, even me cousins
We're super excited and everybody screams
We checked behind the sneakers, we know he's got the key
Santa's coming...

Santa can you bring me a bike?
Bring me any colour, any kind you like
Santa can you bring me a scooter
I wanna be that kid that people go oooh and aah at

Santa if you get my message, can you reply?
A simple LOL or smiley face and then I'll know you'll fly
My mum says not to worry you're pretty good at this
But just in case the key's behind the old pair of sneakers
Santa's coming...
